WELCOME!!! | Nervous System | ||||||||||||||||
This site attemps to provide comprehensive yet abreviated review of the anatomy of the central nervous system and how it works. Clinical situations are reviewed as well, to illustrate the significance of the subject. A neurologist without neuroanatomy is a sailor without a map. However, keep in mind that the clinical situations are often incomplete. Also, in real life, if the patient it aphasic or unconscious, or if there are no witnesses of the event, the history and physical findings may be partially or entirely absent. It often takes time for clinical evidence to evolve, and not until then does the diagnosis become obvious. Technology improves the chances of disclosing pathology, but it too has its limitations. Most of the time, a combination of technology, clinical findings and time provide the answers. One must be ready to see the fragments of a whole. Hence the challenge of real-life practice. If you are not in the health professions and think you might have a medical problem, contact your physician. This website is not a tool for self-diagnosis, but an educational tool.
